Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 in his 62nd year . Loving husband of Brenda (Sweeney) Nixon. Loving father of Amy (David), Melissa (Steve) and Jamie (Shelby). Doting grandfather to Raeburn, Michael, Madelyn, Violet, Ethan and Isabel. Son of James and the late Florence Nixon. Brother of Donna Mansfield (John), Carol Ann McCoy (Wayne), James Nixon (Carolyn) and Pamela Nixon (Brian). Son-in-law of Isabell and the late Austin Sweeney. Brother-in-law of J.D. (Janice) Sweeney and Marianne Grubb. Allen will be missed by his nieces and nephews. Loving dog parent of Maggie, Bosley and Tanner. Friends may call at the Jack & Thompson Funeral Home, 318 Main Street East, Shelburne on Thursday, September 5th from 6 – 9 p.m. and at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, 166 Bruce Street North, Durham on Friday, September 6th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at Knox United Church, 236 Garafraxa Street North, Durham on Saturday, September 7th at 1 p.m. Interment at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Hospital for Sick Children or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
